Irano-Iraq Trade Conference

 

On 15-16 October 2017, a Conference on Trade between Iran and Iraq was held at the Summit Conference Center through the combined efforts of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture and the Faculty of Entrepreneurship of the University of Tehran.

This two-day conference which was attended by the high-ranking delegations from the Iraqi central government and Kurdistan Regional Authority had been organized with the aim of establishing B2B trade relations and honoring the Iranian firms which are pioneers in the area of exports to Iraq. At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Trade, Deputy Minister of Industries, Senior Advisor to Iraqi Prime Minister, Senior Consultant to Iraqi Central Bank and the Director General for Middle East from the Supreme Council of National Security and Director General of Iran Commodity Exchange were the keynote speakers.

Additionally, at the opening ceremony Dr. Nahavandian, the Iranian President’s, Deputy for Economy appreciated and praised the key role played by the Faculty of Entrepreneurship in establishing a close relationship with the Chamber of Commerce and, while stressing the territorial integrity of Iraq as an important neighboring country, added that Iran and Iraq should plan on an approach towards joint ventures and investment in their common sources and finally move in a direction towards preferential trade agreements and even free trade. Also at this conference Mr. Rajeh Saber Abboud al-Mousavi, the Iraqi Ambassador to Tehran expressed hope for important of economic relations between Tehran and Baghdad along with an action plan to follow up the program of Iran-Iraq Joint Committee which was formed in 2004.
